LinkedIn sued for $ 5 million for the Privacy Breach -
LinkedIn is sued for $ 5 million for violation of privacy in early June that compromised the words of passes more than 6.5 million users. The trial covers two users with free and paid accounts, and is based on what the complaint called a "disturbing lack of security measures" by LinkedIn, according to Courthouse News Service.
Hacking, who held on June 5, lead many to question the LinkedIn privacy and security policies. First, the complaint alleges that LinkedIn has not been properly store user passwords. LinkedIn apparently did not use encryption method update called "salting", which is an industry standard. It also took the company 12 hours to confirm that the hacking occurred and inform their users, giving hackers and thieves identity a long time to use the compromised password to access LinkedIn accounts.
This is the latest in a series of lawsuits filed against social networking companies for their privacy concerns and security.
