Kitchen of the week: An Island Walnut adds warmth to a family space - While planning an extension to connect an addiction to the main house of the property owners in the Kent realized it would, in fact, make it the ideal place for a new, inviting family kitchen.
"The initial brief was to create an elegant and functional space in a room at the back of the house," said John Stephens Rencraft. "However, after a few visits to the property, it became clear that the kitchen would work better if it was moved to the new extension. Now, our customers have more than just a kitchen; they have an open kitchen-dining room and bright living room with French windows overlooking a beautiful garden.

"For me, curve, multi-level island is really the standout feature, Stephens said. "He functions as both a point of view and also on a functional level aesthetics, you can sit and chat with their guests while sipping a drink, but the preparation area is hidden from view.
