Kitchen of the week: A bright, classic design for Essex Home - Family Of newly built and only completed in summer 2014, this spacious family house in the village of Essex Felsted looks centuries old. "Fortunately, we participated in the property in the early stages of construction.
Formulate the design of the kitchen when the house had barely raised his foundation allowed Barry to influence the actions and positions of key features, such as windows. 'Get involved in the construction work before it's finished, you can modify the design to assist the work of the kitchen beautifully, "says Barry. "This room is a hub, so it's important, it works perfectly."
It took about four weeks to install the kitchen and the finished design is bright, open and beautifully classic. It is in a huge room, measuring about 15m by 7m, which also contains a dining room and living. To help in the kitchen occupy confidence its section of this huge common area, Barry designed in large features, like a huge Aga and a large island but maintained at a new palette of white and gray to help light the look and airy space. Now the kitchen is the center of family life. "It's really the heart of the house," says Barry.

'the kitchen memory was to create a classic and bright thing, "Barry said Sawyer. "We went to white cabinets, flooring gray marble, which adds a bit of color to hot stone, and stainless steel worktops on base cabinets.

"We kept the design of the kitchen quite minimal," says Barry, 'but the key was to have a couple of talking points. one is the large Aga, with a large extractor canopy above. "We factored this from the early stages of construction, and that influenced the position of the windows, he said. They were installed on each side of the Aga, creating a symmetrical look and allowing plenty of natural light to flow in.

a gas oven and hob are installed to the left of the Aga. "They act as a backup," says Barry. "You may put off the Aga summer like, so this is a secondary option for cooking."

the large island unit is 3 m long and its work plan is 1200mm deep. "It needed to be large to meet the dimensions of this huge room, Barry said. The work plan is quartzite stone, which is harder than marble, but looks great.

the choice of worktop owners was influenced by life abroad. "The family had lived in Australia for a few years before moving here, says Barry. "Many kitchens there incorporate the marble and stainless steel, so they had become used to this look and wanted to reproduce it here.

small closet is located on one side of the kitchen, a little away from the busy cooking area around the Aga. It contains a double socket for a coffee maker and a toaster. "The two flanking cabinets contain the refrigerator and freezer, so practice the milk," says Barry.
The cabinet is equipped with folding doors, which store carefully when space is in use. "You can be quite messy in there and then just close the doors!" Adds Barry.
