OCZ Launches Z-Drive 4500 PCIe SSD with WXL Software

OCZ Launches Z-Drive 4500 PCIe SSD with WXL Software -

OCZ Technology has introduced the business class Z-Drive 4500 PCI Express (PCIe) SSD series. The Z-Drive series 4500 has a higher performance compared to Z-Drive R4 Series from OCZ and operates 19 nanometers (nm) MLC NAND flash. Designed in / half-length (FHHL) full-height format, the MLC models available include 800GB, 1.6TB and 3.2TB capacities.

Each model in the Z-Drive 4500 is built OCZ new windows Accelerator (WXL) Software. WXL Software enables IT managers to offer low latency flash deployable as a local volume flash, flash cache for hard disk volumes, or a combination of both.

When deployed for caching, WXL Software performs statistical "out of band" treatment to cache the most frequently accessed on Z-Drive 4500 flash data. A heating cover and an analysis mechanism is also selected for important and demanding analysis job to be loaded onto the flash cache Z-Drive 4500 in advance.

The Z-Drive 4500 are driven by OCZ proprietary Virtualized Controller Architecture (VCA) and LSI SandForce SF-2582 processor. Based on the SNIA test methods, the series offers durable performance for PCIe board cards based on MLC, including the maximum bandwidth playback of up to 2,900 MB / s, the maximum write bandwidth 2200 MB / s 4K random read speed block to 252,000 input / output operations per second (IOPS) and random 4K write speed up to 76,000 IOPS block up.

For the flash-based virtualization, the Z-Drive series 4500 works in conjunction with VXL OCZ virtualization software distribution flash cache resources on demand across virtual machines (VMs) to accelerate application performance. It distributes the flash between VMs as needed making sure that no VM inefficiently occupies flash when it could be better used elsewhere in the environment. Consequently, the flash cache Z-Drive 4500 is optimally used at any time regardless of how many virtual machines are running at the same time, data traffic to and from the SAN is reduced, and critical data is available locally in the Z-Drive 4500 cards for immediate use by VM

additional features of the Z-Drive 4500 Series include :.

  • protecting power loss data that protects the flight in write operations in case of sudden power failure
  • protection from end to end data path that performs checks data integrity at every moment of data
  • 128 bit AES encryption that complies with safety standard industry data
  • TRIM command support that allows pages data to be crushed and reused
  • a complete reconstruction of the Linux kernel device drivers and Windows from the platform Z-Drive R4
