"Because of the height of the room, you always want to have a space above the upper cabinets that accumulate clutter," he explains, "and the units should be broken above the sink . Two full-height cabinets frame the steps up to the living room; provided that the additional storage and the other for the refrigerator.

Brown opted for a waterproof concrete work plan with dark gray units to compensate the white walls and give the customer something solid that would stand family life. "I find it quite difficult when you have stainless steel with white finish - it can seem a little austere and bland - so I wanted to do something to compensate for that," he says.
The concrete creates a great variety of texture. "It is simple and you can not be too picky with it. You never know what the finish you're going to get, "says Brown.

At the end of the garden Brown put in a rather unusual hangar. "They often have a recess awkward next to them which tends to fill up with clutter," says Brown. To avoid this, he installed a long, shallow design that covers the width of the garden, with several doors for easy access. He also reversed the throttle angle of roof on the extension to the roof of the shed.

the bifold doors are aluminum and Brown chose to have a white box inside, with black on the outside. "I did not use white on the outside because it can look a little like PVC, Brown said. "However, I felt that black inside perhaps a little too hard against the white walls, so we went to a white frame on the inside of the door.

The architect went for a simple lighting system. "I like the minimalist lights without shades, he said. "The room was very clean back, and once we had decided on the tiles tessellating we wanted the lights to be as simple as possible in order not to affect the trend, he added.

unity of the island plays a crucial role in zoning and storage in the room. on the side are open shelves painted the same color as the cabinets, which brings a bit of life and vitality to the room. "the client had some very nice pots and cookbooks, so we wanted to have a space to store them, Brown said. on the other side are three sets of deep drawers for further storage.

There is a real sense of connection between the kitchen and the garden. doors wide open, the work plan continues above the garden of storage and the same flooring material is used for the patio to give the sense that the room is much bigger than it is. the cabinets are sealed and painted in the same dark gray, and the floor - porcelain tiles with a light wood effect - had enough grip to be used both inside and out.
