Kitchen of the week: A redesign Met a small space in a dream cook - The owners, a retired and now works part-time, spent more time at home - and in the kitchen . But it was hard to enjoy the space as they had not renovated in 35 years. D ated and dark, the kitchen was ripe for a makeover.
Interior designer Naomi Stein Manifest design, family design-build firm in Pennsylvania , learned how clients like working in the kitchen, they had to have that practice and styles they favored. She helped transform the small space in an open room and light, with particular attention to detail to keep things balanced and special.

"Because the arrangement is not symmetrical, we had to give it balance," says Stein. One way it did this was by careful placement basis. the owners wanted to keep things light, but they love natural materials such as walnut. "I knew that the island was a place that could be warmer and richer," says Stein. "We finished with a waterfall to keep the light meter." The designer carefully specified which pieces would be used on the sides and through the work plan - notice the continuous flow of the venous system in the quartzite.
The island cabinets contrast to other firms; while the cupboards are of Shaker style cabinets of the island style of the slab. The veneers are carefully book-matched so that the grain flows well drawers for doors. They finish "ultra mat '.
