Maxell Corp. Certifies interoperability of its LTO Ultrium 6 Data Cartridge -
Data storage and backup media company Maxell Corp. of America announced the certification of its LTO Ultrium 6 (LTO 6) of the data cartridge.
"Maxell recently completed the verification process of the compliance of the data cartridge LTO Ultrium 6, including a series of tests to confirm the exchange compatibility with other drives and media," says a press release Maxell Corp. subject to ChannelPro- SMB . "The users of Maxell LTO Ultrium products can be assured compatibility and interchangeability between Maxell LTO Ultrium media and all brands of Ultrium drives and media."
LTO 6 functions Write Once, Read Many (WORM) functionality and advanced encryption capabilities, making it well suited for backup and archiving applications requiring high security, including vertical markets such as legal SMEs, consistent with medical and financial Sarbanes - Oxley Act.
The data cartridge also includes a linear tape file system, allowing it to be used in a manner similar to that of hard disk drives. It also features a transfer rate of the compressed tape drive faster up to 400 MB / s and a maximum storage capacity of 6.25 TB.
The incorporation of NeoSMART Maxell (Super Maximum capacity Advanced Reliability band) technology is designed to improve the benefits of LTO 6. For example, the ultra-fine ceramic-armored metal particles increase the capacity and LTO 6 create an additional level of protection against corrosion.
In addition, Maxell has developed dispersing and calendering processes designed to improve read / write performance and ensure high efficiency and stability.
