SSDNow V300 makes Kingston Digital Solid-State Drive affordable -
Forget moving parts. A solid state drive is a drool-worthy option for those looking to upgrade a hard drive. Unfortunately, it is also an expensive option -. Sometimes
Kingston Digital (which is actually a part of Kingston Technology Company, Inc.) has just started shipping an affordable SSD option, known as the SSDNow V300. From $ 126, the V300 is quite affordable, but packs in all the goodies you'd expect from an SSD.
As part of the series SSDNow V, the V300 is a nice little upgrade for those looking to boost an existing configuration PC or laptop. It is a last notable level, too, because it is 10 times faster than a hard disk drive 7200 and features a SandForce Flash Storage Processor LSI (FSP) also. It is also optimized for 19nm NAND flash memory, promising read and write speeds up to 450MB / s.
"LSI worked together with Kingston to deliver a customized training solution for high performance solid state for their cost-effective SSDNow V Series," said Kent Smith, senior product marketing manager the flash components Division, LSI. "Our SF-2281 FSP winning customers offer Kingston customers with enterprise-class features and an improved user experience everyday computing, especially for first time SSD users. "
Because it has no moving parts, an SSD is certainly more solid. It is also shock resistant and can withstand drops and bumps, if that's a concern. It's hard to beat that price, but Kingston promises to deliver performance as well.
"The SSDNow V300 is the best cost-effective upgrade for users who want their existing systems to perform faster," said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston. "They will know fastest startup and shutdown times, and will also see much better system performance when multiple applications are open. "
the compact V300 comes in 60GB ($ 126), 120GB ($ 194) and 240GB (270 $) the storage capacity. It is now available as a standalone reader or as part of an upgrade kit. This includes cloning software and some other accessories to add to a desktop or laptop configuration.
