Vendor to Watch: Data Deposit Box -
The company has been in business since 2002. It was one of the first BDR providers to store data in the cloud. Its services are exclusively for SMEs and sold entirely through the channel. So why have you not heard of the company
Troy Cheeseman, president, COO and director of Toronto-based data Box Inc., wonders what he himself sometimes. "The irony is that we're back to a lot of people, but we are not new by any stretch," he said.
Data Deposit Box is working hard to overcome its low profile in the channel. "We are really looking to bring a large number of partners," said Cheeseman.
Central to the height of the business is the simplicity and completeness of its product. A recurring price, which starts at $ 9.99 per month for 60GB and goes up to $ 159.99 per month for 1 TB, you get all the features of strong data offerings, including support for mobile devices, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, as well as virtual machines running VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
There are more to come too. According Cheeseman, Data Deposit Box add bare-metal restore capabilities and a manageable unit away on the backup site to its solution previously only cloud, allowing MSPs to get all the BDR offers their customers need one supplier, instead of mixing and matching systems to partial functionality from multiple vendors. (As of press time, the first of three aircraft types is available for partners.)
The compensation structure for members of the partnership that many differs from its competitors and, Cheeseman added . Dealers get a commission worth up to 25 percent of recurrent costs of each customer each month for as long as that customer remains a Data Deposit Box user.
Judging by the 13-year record of success of the company despite the limited recognition of the name in the channel, which could be too long.
