CES: McAfee, Intel Team Up for New Consumer Security Software

CES: McAfee, Intel Team Up for New Consumer Security Software -

The Consumer Electronics Show is expected to start with a bang when McAfee and Intel Announce New Joint Venture the world of consumer security software. While the new Internet security software is still in beta testing and will not be available until mid-year, some details on McAfee publishes the software make it sound like a game changer.

"We are combining the best McAfee security technology with Intel security the best technology, "Gary Davis, vice president of global consumer marketing for McAfee, said. "There will be a deeper level of integrated security in silicon."

What's special? The new Internet security software will include security hardware-assisted, which helps protect your devices on another level than other suites of security software can not reach. Hardware-assisted security is beyond the operating system, close to the CPU, to provide an additional level of protection. Having an extra level of security outside the operating system allows McAfee to monitor the real-time kernel to detect and block, advanced hidden threats such as stealth rootkits and APTs.

The new material is also related to the hard drive, making it difficult for data thieves to steal your hard drive. If the hard drive is removed from your computer, it can not be used in another computer.

In addition, the new software will provide a concierge service that will give users access to an exclusive 800 number and online chat as it will "support their own personal security technology," said Davis. Users can call on new virus or malware they hear about and get help on how to protect their computers against them.

McAfee says these improvements, in addition to more features that McAfee will come out during the beta process, will make the custom software for each user and protect on a completely new level.

"This is a fundamental change to protect your device protect what you do," says Davis.

What happens if you do not have to a Intel device? this is where it gets complicated. Since security software talks directly to the Intel hardware, if your device does not have Intel hardware, the level of protection will not work.

"You get safety at the highest level on an Intel device. If you do not have an Intel device, you still get a high level of McAfee security, but you will not get this level of protection, "says Davis.

McAfee will show beta the new software at CES, but only to their partners.
