Clearing the 'rain' price structure BDR -
The nightmare scenario goes like this: A managed service provider sells a SMB client program backup and data recovery includes a local appliance with additional cloud, and SMB uses the solution for a year or more. Meanwhile, the company's data grows. Then, a month if not routine, MSP now receives a phone call moody owner angry, complaining about their monthly bill.
After selling backup and data recovery (BDR) solutions itself as an MSP for many years, Frank Gurnee is too familiar with this scenario. Now Gurnee is vice president of sales channel for Equus MSP Solutions, and he hopes his company new cloud box will spare MSPs having to explain price increases based on data customers.
The Creep Cost Per-GB backup cloud
most of BDR solutions with cloud-ins use a per gigabyte model, in which SMB customers pay increased costs that their databases increases. "Many SMEs are not ready for any costs," Gurnee said, "and what appears to be a low cost solution first becomes very expensive over time."
In addition, Gurnee said, MSPs often eat the differential storage costs in the hope of maintaining customer relationships. But sometimes it is just not possible. "This issue has lost customers," said Gurnee. "It caused a disconnection and distrust [in] Easy existing partnerships."
Gurnee and Equus have realized for some time that there is a need in the channel for a flat BDR program. In their search for such a solution, they approached the Symform and StorageCraft partners. Before long, Box Cloud was born.
Flat-Rate BDR Partners
StorageCraft, well known in the channel for its backup software, already had a relationship with the cloud backup provider Symform when Gurnee approached the company. "From the moment I saw Symform, I knew there was something new and exciting that was presented to the chain," he recalls.
Symform offers what it calls "the first cloud storage solution decentralized industry." According to Heather Johnson, Symform vice president of development and strategic alliances, the claim is justified.
Johnson explains that with Distributed Resilient Symform storage architecture, each encrypted data block is divided into as many as 96 pieces and spread to 96 completely independent computers housed in different geographical locations. All 64 of the 96 rooms is required to rebuild a given data block. "In other words," Johnson said, "33 independent disks, unknown and geographically dispersed should fail at about the same time for the client data to be lost."
Johnson said the Symform cloud storage model allows the company to provide a solution that is "faster, safer and reliable" for less money. "It is the only solution that offers unlimited cloud storage for a small package," she said.
By bringing the Symform cloud storage offering the device of Equus and the graphical interface of StorageCraft software, Gurnee said the three companies have been able to create "an out-of-the experience -box. "
" the concept was to create an affordable solution that allows MSPs to make large margins, while at the same time, which allows each SMEs to [access to] high reliability , data redundancy and data protection at a price that makes sense. "
Presentation Box Cloud
in the new model Box Cloud, Gurnee said the three companies have" taken this which is a traditional backup model and changed the way MSPs provide solutions. "He added that the solution was" 100 percent designed for SMEs that need backup. "
using a" full server Intel, "open platform capabilities and offering to" add virtualization or do whatever you would for a normal server, "the Box cloud model Equus pairs an appliance with cloud-based storage Symform (until the internal storage of the device). "Your terabyte device then also includes a terabyte in the cloud," says Gurnee.
Entry Box Cloud Equus product includes hardware, software license StorageCraft, and up to 1 TB of data in 'Symform cloud infrastructure for $ 199 per month for MSP. service providers can add their own private label or pricing model for resale. "they do whatever they like the margin," said Gurnee MSP . "Cloud Box is an affordable solution for them without upfront costs."
The solution requires a commitment of 36 months, but Gurnee adds that "redemption" or early termination of the offer is also available. The package is available now for MSP partners. MSPs can register to become partners across Equus free without prequalification.
