Veeam and ExaGrid Team Up on Virtual Backup and Recovery Solution -
A Backup & Replication Veeam integrated version of the software in the device ExaGrip allows SMEs to instantly run a VM directly from the device when the primary VM is unavailable.
Veeam Software is a developer of VMware data protection, disaster recovery and VMware management solutions for virtual environments of data centers. ExaGrid Systems Inc. provides scalable solutions risk-based backup with data deduplication. The two companies have joined forces to improve the recoverability of virtual machines (VM).
The new pairs of integrated solutions from Veeam Backup & Replication Software with the architecture of ExaGrid landing zone to provide fast backups and efficient data storage and recovery. It aims to enable SMEs to instantly recover and run a VM directly from the ExaGrid appliance when the primary VM is unavailable.
The ExaGrid landing zone, a high-speed cache on the ExaGrid appliance, maintains the most recent Veeam backups in their original format. The technology and architecture, operating in tandem with Veeam Backup & Replication, means users can instantly recover and run an entire VM directly from the backup system should ExaGrid disk primary VM be unavailable.
According to Veeam, this means that most other deduplication products "will retain a deduplicated copy, often resulting in limited functionality," ExaGrid architecture allows customers to take full advantage of Veeam Backup & functionality instant VM Recovery replication.
